My apologies to my writing partner [info]widdershin for messing up the order with this post. It should have gone before the last post Kevin made on his journal with Jake. My bad everyone.

Jake frowned when Kevin moved away and headed over to the booth as soon as he'd served the waiting customer. He slid into the booth opposite and said, "What's up Kev? And don't give me the 'nothing' shit."

Kevin bit his lip and took a sip of his coffee. "Awful as usual," he joked. He shot Jake a weak grin, and knowing that the ever friendly and well meaning young man would not let him get away with this. "I have a question but..."

"Then ask." Jake leaned further forward so Kevin wouldn't have to speak too loudly.

"It's not personal it's just..." Kevin bit his lip again furiously battling his procrastination. "Do you know Missing Mile?" he finally blurted.

Jake frowned Okay, I didn't expect that. "Um yeah, I've been a few times. Why?"

Kevin balked at the frown. He nearly said Never mind but who else could he ask? He had no other friends. "What did you wear?" Kevin realised how weird that sounded. "I mean, what would you wear if you were going?"

"Umm dunno, 'T' and jeans I think," Jake shrugged, "You thinking of going? They have good bands there."

"A friend.. well not a friend a..." Kevin fought the blush rising on his face."Umm Trent plays there and..." He stopped at Jake's full faced grin. "I just wanted to support him," he added weakly.

"Trent? My sidewalk find?" Jake's grin broadened. He loved the idea that Kevin kept in touch with Trent. "That is cool man! I bet he'd really appreciate you going there."

"Yeah your sidewalk find," Kevin smiled fondly. "Although he's more than that." The words escaped him.

"You like him Kev?" Jake asked quietly seeing all the signs in his friend.

Kevin bit his lip again. "He needs a friend," he said noncommittally. Jake's gaze didn't relent though, and Kevin let go. "And well yeah." He buried his eyes towards his coffee.

"Yeah," Jake nodded and smile, "You want me to go with you? I can take off after the show though."

"Do I look like a need an escort to a goth club?" Kevin laughed and took a bite of his muffin. "Fuck Jake your coffee is shit but your muffins are amazing!" He blushed when he realised what he had said. "Your muffins aren't why I'd like you to go with me but...yeah I'd like you to go with me. I don't really do...clubs."

With a giggle Jake said, "I'll do clubs, bars, whatever. It's all good Kev although I'm crap at putting on black eyeliner."

"They wear eyeliner?" Kevin asked nearly spitting out his muffin. "The guys even?"

"They do." Jake was enjoying every moment of this. "Hey, how about you come over to my place before the gig and we get you ready. I live next door to Viggo and he's an artist so must have a steady hand so we don't look like pandas."

"Is it like a dress requirement?" Kevin asked innocently.

Jake couldn't help but laugh, "No, not at all but it could be fun to play a bit."

"I'm not the...dressing up type," Kevin said. "You go ahead though." Kevin paused and then dared to ask, "Do you think Trent would mind if I didn't get all done up?"

With a quick kiss to Kevin's forehead Jake said, "I bet Trent will be happy that you're gonna be there." He looked back at the counter and straightened up, "Better get back to the kitchen, but we have a date right ... and then you and Trent do."

"Not a date...I'm just going to see his band," Kevin quietly protested as Jake got up.

"Yeah I know," Jake nodded and smiled as he disappeared into the kitchen.
